HYMN. During the singing of this hymn the applicants are invited to come forward to the front.
The Minister then gives a short address, based on appropriate Scriptures, carefully seeking divine guidance in this in order that an impression be made of the solemnity of the act. Texts that could be used with profit are:-
Acts 2: 42. “Continuing in the Apostles’ Doctrine and Fellowship. “
1st Cor. I:9. “Called into the Fellowship. “
Gal. 2 9. “They gave … the Right Hands of Fellowship. “
Phil. 1:5. “For your Fellowship. “
1st John 1:3. “Fellowship with us. “
1st John 1:7. ‘We have Fellowship one with another. “:
The Minister asks the congregation to stand, and then extends the Rights Hand of Fellowship, in the Name of the Father, the Son (the Head of the Church), and the Holy Ghost.
If Communion follows, the Minister should personally give the emblems to those received into fellowship.
If possible, to be held before Breaking of Bread Service.
Rule and conduct card to be given to each one after the service If the person is not already baptised in water, a promise to do so at the first opportunity should be asked for.
