FAITHFUL HEART IN SERVICE

TEXT: NEH. 9:8

MEMORY VERSE: MATT. 6:24 (No man can serve two masters; for either he will hate one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and Mammon.)

INTRODUCTION

When God called us, a work of the Spirit of God occurred in our hearts to have passion for the things of God. A fire burned in our hearts to kick out the gates of hell and bring the kingdom of Heaven to earth. God needs people who can serve Him faithfully and whole heartedly. From the text under review, God found in Abraham what He does not find in many hearts- Faithfulness. According to Jeremiah 17:9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it”. Only God can know it. In an attempt to reflect on the Topic, “Faithful Heart in Service,” we shall consider the following outlines or requirement.

THE LOYALTY (OBEDIENCE) – DANIEL 1:8

The contents of the Book of Daniel should confirm our faith in the vanities of the scripture. But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the King’s meat………..” (Dan. 1:8). Add to this situation the fact that Daniel and his three friends had a keen religious experience and definite convictions against conformity to the ways of the heathen, and one can except that sooner or later a real conflict will develop in their land of captivity (Babylon). We can admire Daniel and his three friends in their conscientious loyalty (Obedience) to religious training and convictions. Many young men and women in these days do not remain loyal to their profession when they get away from home or church, many have forgotten that obedience to Gods commandments, and leaders in authority are core areas of faithfully heart in service.

SERVICE WITH HUMILITY – ACTS 20:19

Many professing Christians miss unbelievable blessings because they are not faithful under trail and therefore by their conduct they side track the blessing the Lord had designed for them. May the Lord give our young men and women the courage it his generation to exemplify their convictions by a faithful and loyal adherence with that testing of character and convictions is sure to come upon those who profess to worship and serve the only true God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Remember you are serving God and not man. As we humble ourselves and render services to God in whatever capacity we are called to serve, there is grace sufficient for every trial if we are willing to appropriate it.

AVOID THE DETRACTORS

A work for God will always be met by both human and satanic opposition. You can equally called them detractors; these combined forces will always do their perverted best to frustrate God’s people in active service in the church. Note some sings of detractors- destructive criticism, open attack, gossip, hatred, poisoning etc. Don’t allow detractors to stop you from serving your God faithfully and whole heartedly.

CHRISTIAN SERVICES

If the believers look for, and love, Christ and His second coming, it will affect their entire life. Their services will include the following:-

a. Fight the Good Fight –   Christians are empowered to fight a spiritual battle and should never surrender to the enemies of righteousness. (1Tim.4:7)
b. Finish the Race –   We have a course to travel, and we need not to detour the hard places; neither do we need to look back. We must finish our course with our eyes fixed on Christ. (Phil. 1:6).
c. Keep the Faith –    We should preach the ‘whole counsel of God’, never betraying any of the great Biblical doctrines. (Acts.20:24-31).
d. Soul Winning – Preachers and believers often get so busy with meetings and classes that they forget the private touch of personal soul winning.
e. Give Money to the Lord – II Cor. 8:2-4. The Macedonians out of their deep poverty gave liberally to the Lord, and Paul accepted the gift as an act of fellowship. The apostolic Church Maritime Field can improve on their Tithing, offering, special donations including ministers’ care.

REWARD FOR FAITHFUL HEARTED SERVANTS:

(i) Crown of glory – 1ST Pet. 5: 2-4
(ii) The over comer’s crown – Rev. 3:11
(iii) The martyr’s Crown – Rev. 2:10

CONCLUSION:

Every service rendered unto God from the heart is highly rewarding. Let us serve in whatever capacity we were called to serve without looking back. Knowing fully well that God must certainly reward us and also reserve enough blessings for our children. God bless you.
