{EXT. STREET – NIGHT}

Captain Obong and Leela are walking towards a bar.

LEELA
I’m supposed to be a ghost. Why are we walking on the street?

CAPTAIN OBONG
I thought you’d just read me and know.
(Leela keeps quiet)
All right, all right, I know. Well, my happiness is that the media do not have your picture. The footages of you we took on the execution site are confidential and will only be seen by the Major General and President. The data will delete itself in one minute once viewed. Even if you’re seen by anyone, no one knows you.

LEELA
What if someone asks me about my name?

CAPTAIN OBONG
Tell them your name.

They arrive at the door of the bar.

LEELA
I don’t feel like going in there.

CAPTAIN OBONG
Come on,
(walks into the bar)

{INT. BAR}

Captain Obong and Leela are sitting around a table.

There is a high sound of pop music and people are dancing.

CAPTAIN OBONG
(lifts a glass of beer and points it at Leela)
Beer?

LEELA
Sorry, I’m not tasty.

CAPTAIN OBONG
(stands)
Hold on. I feel like shitting in my pant!
(hurriedly walks away)

Suddenly, five girls walk to the table where Leela is sitting.

GIRL ONE
Hey, boy

GIRL TWO
You must be lonely.

GIRL THREE
Did daddy leave you here?

LEELA
Hey, ladies, I’m not in for this shit.

GIRL FOUR
Wait until you see what’s beneath my underwear.

GIRL FIVE
You’ll pay us, right?

LEELA
(exhales)
Please…

GIRL ONE
Shhhhh! Follow me.

The five girls romance and take Leela away.

{BEDROOM}

The girls push Leela unto the bed, romance and climb unto him.

LEELA
(sits)
See, sorry, ladies, I wish I could help you guys but I don’t feel a pee down there.

GIRL TWO
(puts her hand in between the legs of Leela)
Come on, come up, little man!

Suddenly, the colour of the house changes but only observed/seen by Leela.

CHILD’S VOICE (V.O)
(over Leela’s mind)
You’re beyond human weakness. You have a greater responsibility far beyond human lusts. Beware, the red eyes are here.

LEELA
Red guy?

GIRL TWO
Yeah, it’s pink in there but it looks red

LEELA
No! Excuse me, ladies.
(stands and leaves the room)

{BAR}

CAPTAIN OBONG
(standing by the door of the room where Leela is coming from)
Done?

LEELA
What are you doing here?

CAPTAIN OBONG
Observing.

LEELA
I can’t believe you paid those girls to rape me.

CAPTAIN OBONG
I thought you said you don’t read minds on purpose, now, how did you know that?

LEELA
Come on, we have to get out of here.

CAPTAIN OBONG
What’s going on, kid?

LEELA
I don’t know.
(walks away)

CAPTAIN OBONG
(smiles)
This guy must be a Christian. Maybe he has lost all his human nature.

GIRL ONE
(taps Captain Obong’s shoulder)
Hey, soldier, you’re still owing us.

CAPTAIN OBONG
Don’t ever touch me again. Besides, you failed to deliver the simple job I gave you.

GIRL ONE
You friend is stubborn!

A little girl stares into the face of Leela.

Leela slowly walks closer to her and suddenly, the girls’ eyes glow.

Suddenly, a great pandemonium occurs in the bar.

CAPTAIN OBONG
What is going on?
(runs to the scene and behold, Leela is struggling with two silver wings behind his back and the colour of his skin has turned grey. He rushes, holds Leela and takes him away)

{SAFE HOUSE, MILITARY PREMISES}

Leela is lying on the floor while Major Evans, THREE GUARDS and Captain Obong is standing.

MAJOR EVANS
He’s changing rapidly just as the doctor prescribed. But where are the wings?

LEELA
It’s inside me. The girl caused it.

MAJOR EVANS
(glances to Captain Obong who squeezes his mouth)
What girl?

CAPTAIN OBONG
I paid some bitches to make him happy.

LEELA
No, not…
(keeps quiet)

CAPTAIN OBONG
Not what?

LEELA
Never mind.

CAPTAIN OBONG
(glances at Major Evans)
Well, your nature is changing gradually and I hope someday you’ll recognize us.

LEELA
Are you scared that my memory might fail?

MAJOR EVANS
Maybe.

LEELA
I’m not evil, sir.

CAPTAIN OBONG
We trust you.

LEELA
And at the same time, you’re afraid of me.

MAJOR EVANS
I don’t know if you still have human’s nature in there but we; humans, are always scared of the supernatural.

CAPTAIN OBONG
Supernatural?
(nods)
Supernatural!

MAJOR EVANS
What.

CAPTAIN OBONG
We can make him a hero!

MAJOR EVANS
The President insisted that we keep him off the public.

CAPTAIN OBONG
He can help us to stop Brama; the Islamic terrorists!

MAJOR EVANS
He is supposed to remain a ghost!

CAPTAIN OBONG
Then let’s make him a ghost hero!

MAJOR EVANS
Hmm! But you saw what happened the last time. He killed a detained terrorist!

CAPTAIN OBONG
Who cares if he kills all of them? They’re criminals with evil intent.

LEELA
I’m not killing anyone.

CAPTAIN OBONG
No, you’re not killing just anyone but bad people.

LEELA
What happened the other day was a mistake, I never knew about the strength in me.

MAJOR EVANS
Son, we’re facing a terrible life-threatening disease.

LEELA
Disease?

MAJOR EVANS
A disease called Brama. They’re suicide terrorist agents and they’ve killed so many people already. Together, we can stop them.

LEELA
I think I now have a greater responsibility than involving myself in the case of humans. I killed someone the last time that happened.

CAPTAIN OBONG
You said it yourself that he deserved it.

LEELA
What if I was wrong?

MAJOR EVANS
Son, we need you in this battle.

LEELA
(stands and rests on the wall)
Back there in the bar, I saw a demon. Suddenly, my countenance changed and I lost control of myself. But before then, I heard a good voice and I think what that voice told me is right.

CAPTAIN OBONG
We understand

LEELA
No, you don’t

CAPTAIN OBONG
You’re like an angel. And, what do angels do? They protect human beings, the children of God; their Master and Lord.

MAJOR EVANS
Have you ever seen a human with a wing?

CAPTAIN OBONG
According to the Bible, angels do not have a sexual urge or feel hungry.

LEELA
What makes you think I’m an angel? I was born in Bodo, here in Nigeria. How many black angels have you seen?

MAJOR EVANS
I am not a religious fan but here is what I know about God. He made a place called heaven where all humans, including the blacks, will share as home. There is no racism in heaven.

CAPTAIN OBONG
Which means if humans will someday be like the angels as said the Bible, then there would be black angels.

LEELA
No… you’re trying to get into my head. I’m not buying it. I need some space.
(moves to the door)

CAPTAIN OBONG
Where are you going?

LEELA
Antarctica.

MAJOR EVANS
O no!

CAPTAIN OBONG
We can’t board a flight for you without being caught.

LEELA
(floats in the air)
I can fly.

CAPTAIN OBONG
(glances at Major Evans)
When did you figure that out?

LEELA
I don’t know,

CAPTAIN OBONG & LEELA
(in unison)
I just know.

CAPTAIN OBONG
I got it.

LEELA
Terrorism, robbery, drugging and all the stuff are your problems. Not mine. However, my presence here will put you in danger. I’ll be back anyway.
(in the speed of light, opens the door, runs outside and flies into the sky)

CAPTAIN OBONG
Jesus Christ!

MAJOR EVANS
What just happened?

CAPTAIN OBONG
He’s gone.

MAJOR EVANS
How did you plan to make him a ghost hero?

CAPTAIN OBONG
(sighs)
I’ll figure that out.

MAJOR EVANS
You’re my friend, Captain, I know you believe in him so much but I don’t. He’s no human anymore, that’s a bird.

CAPTAIN OBONG
An angel.

MAJOR EVANS
What angel is grey? I’ve only seen grey birds! Whatever, train him when he returns.

CAPTAIN OBONG
(smiles)
Of course.

CONTINUE…
