Localisation of Industries

Localisation of industries means the concentration of many industries in a particular area. Such industries produce commodities which belong to the same industrial group. Once they have been established, they create an industrial atmosphere which brings other external industries in the form of banking and other financial institutions. The presence of capital, skilled labour and raw materials lead to easy production, research and exchange of ideas among firms. Examples of areas or towns in Nigeria where industries have been concentrated are Lagos, Ibadan, Port Harcourt, Kano, Kaduna, etc.. In these places, other subsidiary industries are set up to enjoy external economies created by the older industries already established.
