Relationship between Constitution and Constitutionalism

a. A constitution is the source of governmental powers in a democratic state and limits the powers of the government. It represents the instrument and symbols of constitutionalism, and constitute a fundamental or supreme law of the land in any given state.
b. Constitutionalism tends to prevent the paralysis of the decision making process as well as the destruction of constituted authority by anti-constitutional means.
c. Constitutionalism limits the government to the provisions of the constitution of the state and attempts to eliminate past evils by a mechanical ordering of the political process. It safe guards the rights of the citizens in the state.
d. Constitutionalism prevents anarchy and provides the basis for the consolidation of the ruling class by limiting them to the provisions of the constitution.
