“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life”.Jn. 3:16.
THE TENSE OF GOD’S LOVE – LOVED
For God so loved the world. The word loved is a past tense. It indicates that God’s love for man did not begin with Christ’s arrival on earth at about HBC. God’s love for man started before the foundation of the world. This is why when Adam fell, God came down to look for him. He clothed him and promised him that the seed of the woman will bruise the head of the serpent. Gen. 3:15.
THE MAGNITUDE OF GOD’S LOVE – SO LOVED
The height of the love is very great. So great that God did not spare His best to give for man’s life. I Jn. 3:1. In this generation many in the church have not been able to give their full tithes to God, how much more, will they give their life for others.
THE SCOPE OF GOD’S LOVE – THE WORLD
God is not partial in His love. The whole wide world is hereby provided with salvation. No race or tribe is exempted. Jn. 1:29, IICor. 5:15.
THE NATURE OF GOD’S LOVE – HE GAVE
Jesus Christ is a gift God gave out of His free choice God is the giver of everything in the universe but that of His excel above all others. Mankind has no claim over Him. It is an unmerited gift, the expression of eternal compassion.
THE SACRIFICIAL CHARACTER OF GOD’S LOVE – HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON
The coming of the only begotten son of God on earth was not on a state visit with pomp and gay but to die and to give His life a ransom for many. Matt. 20:28.
THE DESIGN OF GOD’S LOVE – WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH IN HIM
The only ground of salvation is that whosoever believeth in Him should not parish but have everlasting life. This is where many people fail some claim that God can not send any person to hell. But the fact is that God had given His son as provision for salvation and in this case any person who take God for granted and refuse to accept Christ shall have himself to blame. Jn. 3:19, Rev. 20:15.
THE BENEFICENCE OF GOD’S LOVE – EVERLASTING LIFE
Do we actually believe that God give eternal life to believers? Yes, He does. Consider the sun, the moon and the stares. They give light always, while the electricity suppliers fail us daily the heaven lights are constant. Our great grandfathers made used of them until their time was over, and ourselves today do use them no failure. God who is light everlasting Himself has already given us this life in His son.
Conclusion: Let us now demonstrate our own love for God and our fellow human beings have on earth.
