Pressure group is an organised group of people seeking to influence the policies and decision-making machinery of government in order to promote the interest of their members. It is an organised association of people seeking to influence government policies and decisions socially, politically, economically and morally.
The objectives of such private association are to avert policies they consider harmful or to promote action they regard as beneficial by exerting pressure on decision making officials.
They are part of the political process and they try to change the direction of government policy. They do not hope to form the government themselves. Their members may compete for political offices on individual merits and on the platform of political parties.
