Isaiah 9:6, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a child is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called wonderful.
The prophet Isaiah with a mind illumined by the Holy Spirit looked down 710 years and saw the coming of Jesus and uttered the sublime words of our text. Jesus is called wonderful because He is wonderful.
JESUS IS WONDERFUL IN HIS NATURE
a. He is a divine being differs from any other human being. Matt.17:1-9.
b. While he is divine, He is at same time a real man. I Tim.2:5.
JESUS IS WONDERFUL IN HIS CHARACTER
His character was absolutely perfect. He was absolutely without blemish and without spot.
a. He was perfect in holiness. Jn.8:46
b. Jesus was also perfect in love. Jn.13:34.
JESUS IS WONDERFUL IN HIS WORK
a. In the first place He makes a perfect atonement for sin. Isa.53:6.
b. He also saves from sin’s power. And in reality any human being who experience Jesus must have a transformation of character. II Cor.5:17.
c. Further He has stores of wonders to perform when He arrives.
Conclusion: His wonders shall have no end.
