Understanding patterns

Instructions are very important and should always be read before starting to make even the most simple article. Basically, nearly all patterns include the actual production details; the finished measurements; making up information, a key to the abbreviations; and most important of all, the tension required for success. Some instructions may include abbreviations that have been specially used for a particular garment. If this is the case, make sure you understand this, as well as the standard abbreviations, before starting to knit.
